Tom Stilwell‘s steel toed boots are not new; he’s been to the drilling sites (onshore and offshore) following explosions, fires, blow outs, loss of control, equipment failures and spills. He’s evaluated failed lubricators, inspected washed out equipment, tested failed gaskets, determined the causes of corrosion, seen venting leaks, and torn down blow out preventers.
Beyond the equipment Tom knows the chain of command at the drill sites, understands the power of the company men, and knows the short-cuts that occur when the consequence of a delay in operations results in thousands of dollars of lost profit.
Tom has years of experience in the oil field handling both off shore rig accidents and on-shore fracking incidents. His experience on the ground sets him apart from other law firms and energy practices.
Tom has negotiated and drafted master service contracts for multiple oilfield service companies, and has enforced the indemnity obligations, limitations of liability, and insurance requirements they contain.
Tom has written extensively on the issues in the oilfield including, most recently presenting training seminars on “Incident Reports: How Not to Create Trial Exhibit Number 1” for various oil field service companies.
